Home is where the lake is!

Cycling day 19/84 km ~ From Kiefersfelden along the Chiemsee back home

After a wonderful evening I thought this could be a relaxing night – but it wasn’t…Next to the campingsite you can lend a small building for parties, mostly done by companies. And so it happened also this evening.

They chatted so loud that one earplug wasn’t enough (I do so to here the alarmclock) – this went on till 2:45 h am – but than they put on the music machine till 3:30 h so even the second earplug didn’t work to give me a little sleep. Doesn’t bother because at this time the trains began to run – so in the end I had about 3 hours of sleep and more than 80 km to do to reach the wedding party of a good friend…

Along the river Inn

That part was a little bit boring but okay – you’re just running along the Inn with autopilot…

Finally I’ve reached Neubeuern where you leave the Inn cyclepath following a very small path – just to show you how well maintained the OpenCycleMap is… 😁

After some hilly up and downs I reached my home lake – Chiemsee!

In the area of Breitbrunn
At the harbour of Gstadt

Here I’ve enjoyed my last journey lunch and arrived happily again at home – healthy and wellbeing.

This was a really great trip lasting 3 weeks and 1.160 km – I’d like to thank you for following me on this trip via my blog – next year perhaps in France again!

And also a big thank you for those of you who gave – or will give the next days – some money to my donation site for ‘Doctors without borders’!

Along the river Inn to Kiefersfelden/Germany

Cycling day 18/93 km ~ From Innsbruck/Austria to Kiefersfelden/Germany

This morning I left my comfortable singleroom in the youthhostel in Innsbruck and continued on the cyclepath Innradweg with great weather.

Waiting for the forecasted big clouds it was a nice trip as I had just to cycle, no cultural highlights to be visited.

After midday – as usual – the black clouds crossed the mountains into the valley I was cycling in – but they were very friendly to me – and didn’t start crying 😁

As I was travelling along the river my toughts were wandering through these 3 weeks – and slowly I realised that – I’ll be home again tomorrow!!!

I haven’t got a feeling like this, it’s really unusual for me to enjoy the holiday till the last day – hopefully. 😀 These were really 3 great weeks and nearly everything went like I planned it in advance – cool!

As another positive surprise I came along a small lake I passed two years ago on my way to Rome – and also this time there was a swan family with some youngsters…

So approaching my last overnight stay – a campingsite next to a wakeboard area in Kiefersfelden – I came along Kufstein were the Ritterspiele take place – this is for you Christian D. 😎

Nice campingsite at the wakeboard center

So tomorrow will be my last cyclingday – hopefully with a little bit of sun… 😁

Part Three – From Italy back home over the alps to Bavaria

So now we are on the last part of my trip – starting with a wonderful (short) boat trip over the Lago di Garda from Manerba to Garda. From here I´d like to make a walk on
one of the surrounding mountains.
After that I´ll continue along the eastern coast road of the lake which is a fantastic
place for surfers up in the north of it. So I come back into the Adige Valley and cycle
up to Bolzano where I´ve booked already a youthhostel for one night.

As I know the cyclepath from the other side I´m going to take the train up to the
Brennero Pass – this will cost me many points in the ranking 😉

Back in Austria my way will lead my down to Innsbruck using the old road and
having a night on a cool campsite at the Natterer See including an organic food shop.

On my last kilometers along the River Inn I´m going to cross the german border
in Kiefersfelden and go back to my hometown…

This will be a – hopefully – sunny and relaxing holiday with some ascents –
looking forward to my upcoming trip!
